When God Flips The Script

What a whirlwind the past five days have been! First and foremost, PRAISE GOD! He has encouraged me, used me, corrected me, humbled me and brought so much joy that I can't contain it. What I thought would be a wedding weekend became something much more. It was a reminder that God sustains, redirects, and even lovingly corrects us when we least expect it.

Time to Get It Done

My weight has been a struggle for decades but now at 64, it’s imperative that I get up and start moving more. It’s time to start a routine I can stick to because let’s face it getting started is the hardest part. It’s hard because lifting weights and moving a body that’s been sedentary. My goals are lofty but achievable and this time, I’m hoping that I don’t have to start over…again.

When My Heart Prays What My Lips Can Not

Recently, I attended my first prayer meeting at church.

I expected it to be meaningful. I didn’t expect it to undo me.

As the people around me began to pray, I listened quietly, grateful simply to be there. But when the woman beside me began praying for unsaved husbands, something inside me broke open. Before I could stop it, tears came. My throat tightened and I started to sob. By the time it was my turn to pray, I couldn’t speak a single word.

Sew in love again

Nearly eleven years ago, I purchased a Brother CS-6000i sewing machine. I don’t remember why I purchased the brand, because I grew up in a home with a Singer sewing machine that sat neatly in a sewing table and it was older. Mom sewed a lot of our clothing when we were little, and I believe she sewed our dresses for my brother’s wedding back in 1970.

Why I’m Thankful for the Pause Button

This series was taught during the adult Sunday school class at church, l before I ever started attending Calvary. Somehow, though, the Lord saw fit to place it in front of me through their YouTube channel, and I’ve found myself slowly making my way through it. I’m about halfway now, and it’s been deep, even gritty at times, but in the best way. It's the kind of teaching that settles in and lingers. To quote my Grandpop, "It sticks to the bones."

Dan the Lions

Spring is in the air. I know this because my allergies have been acting up. Each year the “Dan the Lions” make an appearance in our yard. My son’s name is Dan and when he was small, he thought I was saying, “Look Dan, the lions!” It stuck and I’ve been calling them “Dan the Lions” for 27 years now.

Four Years & Many Decks Ago…

Fours year ago, I learned to play Magic the Gathering. My sons had played MtG for 6 months or so and told my husband about it. He played as a teenager up until he moved across the country to be with me. He was thrilled to get back into it. He didn’t think I’d be interested but after watching several play sessions, I decided I wanted to learn. The first deck he built me was mono green and used Galta as the Commander. A month or so after I started playing my niece-in-law said she wanted to learn.

What an Incredible Weekend

My heart is full as I write this entry. Something shifted in the past week, like when dirt settles into a pot. I’ve been attending my church for a little over 4 ½ months, yet in the last week since I attended the first membership class, until the end of PM Worship service last night, I felt myself settle into place. It’s hard to put into words and I spent the drive home last night just praising God for the incredible joy I felt even though I’d been running on very little sleep.

Life Since Changing Churches

On November 3rd of last year, I left the church I had attended for two and a half years. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was the right one. A month later, I began attending a church a few miles away in a neighboring town. In the four months since, I’ve received so many quiet confirmations that the move was exactly what it needed to be.

2026 Reading So Far

For me, there’s nothing better than a quiet afternoon spent tucked into my recliner with a good book and a hot cup of tea. The phone is silenced and there are no interruptions. In this life there are no little children to care for, no employer with expectations and deadlines. My schedule is my own and my soulmate, my husband is non-demanding and savors the quiet as much if not more than me.

Welcome

After blogging on Wordpress.com for nearly a year, I realized that I needed a new site. While Wordpress worked as a platform for blogging, it didn’t work for my photography. Even though I’m retired, I’m still actively capturing moments with my cameras. With my Great-Niece’s wedding quickly approaching, I needed to make a decision whether to upgrade my Pixieset site, subscribe to Smugmug or return to Squarespace.
