Moving in More Ways Than One
Today’s goal was 10 miles on the recumbent bike.
Biked for 48 minutes today. It’s the longest time so far.
The goal is, and will continue to be, movement. Moving in order to get fit, and being open to God moving me in whatever direction He leads.
Let's start with another tidbit from my journey from fat to fit.
I long to be able to put on a helmet and ride a bike around the neighborhood like we used to, but that's not happening...yet. Bike seats are uncomfortable at my current weight, I have dodgy knees, and I'm heckin' short.
So far, the hubs is down 20 pounds! While I'm thrilled for him, there was a brief moment when I felt defeated. Thankfully, it didn't last long, and I quickly congratulated him on all his hard work. He's been doing more yard work and sticking to portion control at meals.
Me? I'm down 7 pounds.
I couldn't exercise at all during the month of May because of illness. Then the wedding shattered my body, and it's taken three weeks to get myself back onto a decent sleep schedule, stay adequately hydrated, and actually feel the urge to get up and move again.
Today's goal was 10 miles total. I didn't take a picture of my average speed, but it was 12.5 mph. Fast enough to feel challenged, but slow enough that I didn't aggravate my knee. My legs were jelly when I finished, and it took a few minutes of wandering around the house before they felt normal again. This is another "start over," but my prayer is that this time I'll stick with it. One of the upsides is working out alongside my husband. Having someone in the thick of it with you always helps. And God continues to place people on my path.
The past several days have been pretty incredible.
Last Friday, I met up with my friend Amy and a new friend, Theresa, to talk about doing a Bible study together over the summer. Apparently, Bible study is my new thing because my nephew and his wife are all in for a family Bible study as well. We're starting with the Gospel of John.
Yesterday, I had a meeting with someone from my previous church. Katrina runs a non-profit organization that provides young adults ages 18–25 with life coaching, mentoring, social events, workshops, and practical life skills. This growing organization is filling a real need within our community and beyond. We connected because I noticed they still needed a website, and the Lord nudged.
See a need. Fill a need.
So we'll be working together to get the website up and running, and I'll continue asking the Lord to show me if there are other ways I can help.
This week is definitely a week of movement.
I'm getting up and moving my body. I'm making better choices about what I eat. And the Lord is moving, placing me exactly where He wants me to be. Later this week, I'll officially become a member of my church, and I'm thrilled. I'll be able to hit the ground running with ministries that are near and dear to my heart.
It's truly incredible how richly God has blessed me since the day I said, "Yes, Lord. I'll go wherever You want me to go."
Peace,
B
