Moving the Games
Gaming is a huge part of my life. It’s not the end-all-be-all of course, but it’s something I’m passionate about. As a Christian, I find a lot of people are a bit confuzzled when they find out I play video games and love tabletop gaming as well. The key to gaming or any other interest/hobby is to not let it take precedence over your commitment to Christ. Don’t let it become an idol. This site is where I share the things I love and enjoy, but gaming doesn’t blend well with my day-to-day posts. Not everyone is a gamer nor do they want to be one, so I created an additional blog for gaming shenanigans. It just feels right to separate it from the bulk of my life. Separate, not elevate. Playing games is something I do for enjoyment and relaxation. It’s not an escape, nor does it replace quality time with God’s Word, prayer, family, caring for this home and my church life.
So welcome to my world of gaming. In 2026 we’re playing the following video games regularly:
GUILD WARS 2
Started playing GW2 in 2015 but we were also playing World of Warcraft at the time so we bounced back and forth. We played WoW from 2004 launch until late 2022 when we finally kicked all things Blizzard Entertainment to the curb. It was a long run and there are times when I still miss it, but can’t return. Guild Wars 2 is far more interesting to us and has more depth. There’s no subscription fee and you can literally play the core game (Levels 1-80) free without every buying a single expansion. There’s enough in the core to keep an adventurer busy, trust me on that one. My main is a Slyvari Scrapper.
I’m also looking forward to the release of Guild Wars 3.
PATH OF EXILE 2
I never really got into Path of Exile much to my husband’s dismay. I have less than 90 hours invested in it. Then Path of Exile 2 pulled me in. The game is in early access on Steam and I’m loving it, which means my husband is happy because we get to play together. The action rpg genre is a favorite of mine and I played Diablo 3 for many, many years. There aren’t enough games like this out there. I’ve played Grim Dawn and Torchlight/Torchlight 2 but haven’t tried Last Epoch… yet. :D
My PoE2 Deadeye (Ranger) is my highest character ever in this game and we were mapping (core endgame progression system) when the lag made it impossible to play. The game is currently in early access and we’re hoping that more optimization is coming in future patches/maintenance. We had zero issues until we started mapping. Now we’re faced with switching from DX12 to Vulkan for shaders which supposedly improves gameplay.
Dude, that means loading into every map and waiting for the new shaders to upload. Correct me if I’m wrong. So we’re taking a break from PoE2 for a bit, but it’s there just waiting for us to pick it up again.
There is a part of me that wants to return to Final Fantasy XIV Online but then I remind myself what a grind that game is and how much of the content is locked behind raiding. We had a blast playing that game and even managed to buy a medium size house lot and decorate the home. If you know anything about FFXIV, you’re familiar with the housing issues. Oh and I even made a little video of our little abode.
I think while I wait for early access games to be optimized, I’ll revisit Hogwart’s Legacy. I never finished the game and other things came up in life that kept me from getting back to it. Either that or I’ll brainstorm with Nykonis (my hubby’s gamertag) to build some new MtG Commander decks. You can never have enough Commander decks.
On that note, I think I’ll dive into Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Switch. It’s been at least 2 months since I logged in so that means I need to eradicate a few bugs in my house. Oh the joys of household maintenance in video games!
Game on,
B
