When change happens it takes me a bit to reset my schedule. The change? I officially started my job…again. It’s the same job and yet it’s different in a lot of ways. The church, a plant in its 5th year, is going through changes. I compare it to a baby bird being kicked out of the nest to fly on its own. That sounds harsh. Our sending church is committed to each of its plants and they’re there for spiritual support as well as other ways to help us grow. The administration side of church businesses is now fully on us and that’s where the Lord has placed me. The administration side of church business and I love it.

It’s taken a couple weeks to adjust to the ebb and flow that is the new norm. That means I know have time to spend writing, taking photos, baking and perhaps even gaming. I haven’t logged into Guild Wars 2 in three weeks. Thankfully it’s a game that doesn’t require keeping up with current content as soon as it drops, like other MMOs. Besides I have a list of craft projects that I’d like to start:

  • A batch of tie dye shirts for the summer. I’m a t-shirt gal and I got a half dozen 100% cotton tees on Amazon for $22.

  • I have a few AI pieces I want to print and frame for my kitchen as well as photos I need to display in our hearth room.

  • There’s a large stash of cans that I want to decoupage for upcoming holidays.

  • Redecorating the half-bath.

  • Screen print a few shirts for my husband.

Our most recent source of entertainment is the bird feeders we put in the yard this year. We put two in the backyard at first. Then we decided to move one in view from the office window. Both Hubs and I work from home during the week. The videos of the finches have been amusing, at least to us and we noticed that they’re using the front feeder now exclusively. We haven’t seen a finch at the back feeder since. The Blue jays, Cardinals, and Doves continue to hang out in the backyard.

Of course there’s always at least one squirrel that shows up to any bird feeder party. At the very end of the video on the right, a finch buzzes the squirrel which made us both laugh. Today, they managed to empty the feeder and we’ll have to refill it this evening. We normally have to fill the one in the backyard every 2-3 days. We’re thinking that because this is in the shade of a huge maple tree in our yard, they went to town on it.

When the summer weather hits, I usually stick to easy meals. Things that I can make and we’ll eat over a couple days. Last week, middle son and daughter-in-law took me to a restaurant supply store. He owns side business which allows him to get memberships at these places. I picked up a case of frozen pizza dough balls for under $35. That’s so worth it to me. I usually make my own pizza dough and breads from September to June. So yes, I could have made dough balls in the spring and frozen them but it’s slightly cheaper to purchase them this way AND it saves me time. Sometimes easier is better. I made a pepperoni pizza, a plain cheese pizza along with a ham and cheese roll. Lunch/snacks for days!

Middle Son also took his Pops and I out to dinner at a local Sushi restaurant. It was delicious but the best part was spending time with family. Our grandkids are 14 and 12 now. It’s crazy how quickly time passes by us with our children and then our grandchildren. My Grand-Niece sent me photos the other day of her in a wedding dress. She said yes to the dress and I can’t believe she’s getting married next year!! Time doesn’t stop so Hubs and I are diligent about being present in the lives of our grown kids, our grandkids, and our niece’s and nephews that live nearby. In my world it’s God and family in that order. Only the Lord knows how many years I have left so I’m making the most of them.

And here we are 19 days later.

Peace,

Nim
